The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) is a private nonprofit organization committed to promoting excellence in international medical education. ECFMG is seeking a Senior Proctor/Administrator on Duty at the Los Angeles CSEC site.

The Senior Proctor will serve as Proctor for USMLE Step 2 CS administration. Maintains security and integrity of exam administration and materials. Prepares specific exam materials. Directs and assists examinees in accordance with established policies and procedures. Serve as Administrator on Duty (AOD) for USMLE Step 2 CS exams on a regular basis. Assists in the training of new proctors.  Cross trains as Control Room Operator for USMLE Step 2 CS administrations. Must be available to work day, evening and weekend shifts.

DUTIES

During USMLE Step CS administrations as Proctor:

  • Oversees examinees and monitors mental/physical status
  • Assists examinees with routine questions and requests
  • Reports any exam irregularities and submits exam incident reports.
  • Resolves incidents with assistance from Control Room Operators, Trainer on Duty, and Administrator on Duty
  • Registration Room Registers examinees using the Roster application
  • Orientation Room - Administers Proctor Orientation; observes examinees during lunch and break periods
  • Examinee Hallway Directs examinees in examinee rotation

During USMLE Step 2 CS administrations as AOD:

  • Maintains security and integrity of the exam administration
  • Monitor examinees' mental/physical status
  • Assists examinees with routine questions and requests
  • Resolves incidents with assistance from Control Room staff and Trainer on Duty.
  • Ensures proper distribution and reconciliation of all exam related materials and accounts for all confidential materials involved in exam administration
  • Maintains the examination rooms and orientation room
  • Oversees test center throughout Step 2 CS Administration, including equipment and exam rooms.
  • Interacts with examinees on issues including scheduling problems occurring on day of exam; examinee complaints/concerns; examinee illness during an exam; and Irregular Behavior by an examinee as outlined by USMLE policies and procedures.

EXPERIENCE

  • Required two years of service industry and/or educational work experience preferred

EDUCATION

  • Required Associate's degree or equivalent in relevant work experience.

ECFMG has the responsibility of evaluating qualifications of graduates of international medical schools who seek entry into postgraduate medical education positions in the United States. International medical graduates who wish to enter an ACGME-accredited residency or a fellowship program in the U.S. must be certified by ECFMG. The current requirements for ECFMG Certification include passing portions of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
