ECFMG is seeking a Staff Accountant in the Philadelphia, PA office. In conjunction with the Accounting Manager and Director of Financial Services, the Staff Accountant will perform the accounting and reporting of the organization's transactions, with primary responsibility for the accounting of ECFMG and FAIMER; ensure that transactions are recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Other responsibilities include: assisting in budgeting, accounting and reporting of the 403(b) plan, and analysis of the CSEC Centers; works closely with independent audit firm in the conduct of the organization's annual audit and preparation of reports to government agencies; provides high level and detailed financial analysis, forecasts, annual budget including cash flow, capital budget and other required financial planning on an as needed basis.

SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of current generally accepted accounting principles, specifically as it relates to the not-for-profit industry.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of Great Plains Dynamics financial accounting package; including FRX (financial reporting system), Project Accounting and Forecaster (financial budgeting/reporting system)
  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial reports and budgets using Microsoft Excel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare operational budgets for ECFMG and FAIMER.  This includes personnel, operating and capital budgets.
  • Upload the monthly trial balance to adaptive on a timely basis and notify department managers when the information is available. 
  • Work collaboratively with Financial Analyst to maintain the lease schedules.
  • Work with accounting manager in providing departmental financial reports to department managers.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly account reconciliations (including CSEC). 
  • Assist in preparation of annual client assistance package(s) for outside auditors.  Respond promptly to auditor's requests.  Work closely with outside audit team. 
  • Assist in the preparation for the annual audit of the organization's 403(b) plan.
  • Assist in preparing investment activity reports as needed.
  • Researches discrepancies of financial information and/or documentation for the purpose of ensuring the accuracy and adhering to established procedures prior to processing.
  • Work collaboratively with members of NBME financial staff on CSEC issues including, but not limited to, the budget to actual analyst.
  • Participates in meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
  • Other duties as required. 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible accounting and financial reporting.

EDUCATION: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. CPA or eligible to sit for CPA Exam preferred.
