The Clinical Skills Evaluation Collaboration (CSEC) seeks a part time as needed CSEC Medical Advisor in the Atlanta, Georgia center.

CSEC, a collaboration of the NBME and ECFMG which administers the USMLE Step 2 Clinical Skills Examination for physician licensure, is seeking a talented, team-oriented individual to join the professional staff as a Medical Advisor.

The Medical Advisor is responsible for recommendations for standardized patient case assignment, medical examination of standardized patients, assistance in standardized patient training of portrayal and physical examination checklist items, and participation in quality assurance review of standardized patient performance at his or her test center. Also, the Medical Advisor works collaboratively with the Center Manager and CSEC 3750 staff to ensure the quality and standardization of the USMLE Step 2 CS.


  • Carry out screening physical assessments of SP applicants and advise Center Manager accordingly
  • Annually update physical assessments for all SPs
  • Approve or suggest case matches in accordance with operational protocols and guidelines, including but not limited to the SP "profile" listed for each case
  • Review potential case exclusionary findings with Medical Director as needed
  • Draft "added histories" for standardized patients as needed to account for physical findings
  • Validate and, where appropriate, assist directly in the training of SPs, especially in relation to physical simulations and physical examination checklist criteria
  • Approve moulage simulation
  • Prepare and present occasional supplemental teaching sessions for Center's trainers, particularly to review criteria for physical examination checklist items, or other topics as requested
  • Participate in periodic telephone conferences and/or other meetings with Medical Director and other site Medical Advisors


  • MD. or D.O. degree
  • Active and unrestricted State medical license with no previous disciplinary action and not under any current investigation
  • ABMS or AOA certification in emergency medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or another broad-based medical specialty
  • Clinical practice after residency of at least one year
  • Experience in undergraduate and/or graduate medical education preferred

The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) is a not for profit organization based in Philadelphia, PA. ECFMG has the responsibility of evaluating qualifications of graduates of international medical schools who seek entry into postgraduate medical education positions in the United States. International medical graduates who wish to enter an ACGME-accredited residency or a fellowship program in the U.S. must be certified by ECFMG. The current requirements for ECFMG Certification include passing portions of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
