ECFMG is seeking a Spanish Analyst for their Philadelphia, PA office. The primary responsibility of the Bilingual Spanish EICS Credentials Services Specialist is to perform review and evaluation of a large volume of final medical diplomas, graduation documents, medical school transcripts, medical licenses, certificates of registration and post-graduate training documents for ECFMG's North American credentials clients. This work will support EICS clients, medical regulatory authorities and other institutions, in making critical decisions about licensure and/or physician employment. The position communicates with medical schools/institutions regarding routine matters of correspondence. This position will also contribute to efforts to ensure overall quality and accuracy of EICS processes and procedures, training and coaching of temporary and permanent staff. The Bilingual Spanish Certification Specialist will assist the EICS Department along with other departments with translations and communications in Spanish, including contact with medical school and other institution officials. The Bilingual Spanish Certification Specialist will occasionally communicate with applicants and medical schools.

DUTIES

Ensures the Provision of Excellent Service

  • Provides exemplary customer service to EICS applicants and maintains an applicant-centered approach in all activities.
  • Reviews and processes requests received from EICS clients.
  • Processes returned verification and ensures that work is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Translates credentials and written communication from Spanish to English, as needed.
  • Translates documents and written communication from English to Spanish, as needed.
  • Communicates in Spanish written and verbally, including contact with medical school and other institution officials, as needed.
  • Communicates in English with representatives of medical schools/institutions with which ECFMG is conducting verifications in a professional and clear manner.
  • Escalates issues to Senior Credentials Services Specialists or management as appropriate.

Contributes to an Efficient and Effective Operational Unit

  • Through an intensive review process, determines acceptability, based on EICS/ECFMG policies and procedures, of all medical education credentials and corresponding documentation, including final medical diplomas, graduation documents, medical school transcripts, medical licenses, certificates of registration and post-graduate training documents and translations, submitted by clients.
  • Determines acceptability of English translations submitted to ensure that they meet ECFMG's translation requirements.
  • Prepares and sends credentials to medical school/institution officials for verification. Ensures that all required information is included in the verification request; this may include research to identify appropriate officials and/or delivery address.
  • Regularly resends verification requests to schools/institutions that have not responded to previous requests for verification of applicant documents.
  • Reviews and processes verification requests to determine the acceptability and authenticity of documents returned to EICS by medical schools, institutions and other organizations.
  • Prepares and resends incomplete or unacceptable verifications to medical school/institution officials with appropriate deficiency letters.
  • Processes all work assigned and ensures that work is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assists in testing EICS computer programs, as needed.
  • Assists in developing departmental procedures.
  • Assists in training and coaching of temporary and permanent staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager.

EXPERIENCE

  • Two years professional experience, preferably in a role processing large volumes of educational credentials or similar documents, a research-based position and/or case management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Spoken and written fluency in Spanish required; proficiency in other languages helpful.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
