ECFMG is seeking an Applications Database Administrator in the Philadelphia, PA office. The Applications Database Administrator works closely with other department DBA(s) to perform administrative tasks for database management systems (DBMS) including installation, configuration, maintenance, backup, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting.  Work closely with other department members in development and implementation of database design, application tuning/troubleshooting, capacity planning, and database security.  Interface with DBMS vendors for needed technical support.  Work closely other department personnel to provide ad-hoc queries, reports, letters, and mailing labels.  Work with personnel from various external organizations to implement data exchange agreements and cross-organization database access. Work closely with other department DBA(s) to manage the enterprise Data Warehouse including creating reports with Oracle OBIEE.

SKILLS

  • Very strong knowledge of PL/SQL programming including latest features in Oracle 12c. Ability to perform tuning of SQL and PL/SQL code is a must.
  • Strong knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts (including ETL). Ability to write ad-hoc queries and reports using Oracle OBIEE tool is highly desirable.
  • A good knowledge of the operating system(s) especially Linux OS.
  • A good knowledge of physical database design.
  • Ability to perform both Oracle and operating system performance monitoring and the necessary adjustments.
  • Be able to provide a strategic database direction for the organization.
  • Good skills in all Oracle tools.
  • A good knowledge of Oracle security management.
  • A good knowledge of how Oracle acquires and manages resources.
  • Experience and knowledge in migrating code, database changes, data and menus through the various stages of the development life cycle.
  • A good knowledge of the way Oracle enforces data integrity.
  • A sound knowledge of both database and program code performance tuning.

DUTIES

  • Perform DBMS administrative tasks so that essential database resources are available as needed in order that operational personnel may accomplish their assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Troubleshoot and tune database performance.
  • Plan for database growth and changes (capacity planning).
  • Interface with Oracle Corporation for technical support.
  • Evaluate new Oracle version features and related products

Provide application development support so that in-house developed applications will be robust and reliable in order that operational personnel may accomplish their assigned duties and responsibilities.

  • Contribute to Database design as member of development teams.
  • Implement the Database design.
  • Implement and maintain database security (users, roles, privileges).
  • Troubleshoot and tune application queries.
  • Perform code review before deploying database objects in Test environment.
  • Assists with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects.
  • Manage sharing of resources amongst applications.
  • Write ETL and develop ad-hoc reports using Oracle OBIEE tool.
  • Refresh the TEST database environment from Production periodically.
  • Backup the Production Database Administrator as required.

III. Develop ad-hoc queries and reports as required for Presidents, Vice Presidents, Department Heads and selected staff members from other departments so that they will have the necessary data needed for planning, presentations, and publications in order to accomplish their assigned duties and responsibilities.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum five years of experience in Oracle database administration and Oracle Data Warehouse (OBIEE). Prior experience with Microsoft SQL Server is desirable.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. A degree in the computer science is preferred. Relevant work experience may substitute for a portion of the educational requirement. Oracle Certified Professional preferred.  Microsoft Certified DBA is a plus.
